Welcome to Goobersville, I am the MAYOR.
Last night? After a perfectly witty and hilarious evening spent listening to David Sedaris read some of his new work, I had an opportunity to meet the man himself. I know! I was so excited. Not only meet him, ala Michael Palin, but spend a few minutes chatting with him. Rad, right?

Of all the things I could say to him, of all the clever and interesting things I could possibly say to one of my favorite writers, this is what came out of my mouth: "It was really cool being able to meet you."

Oh wait, I forgot an important detail. This was the first thing I said to him. The first. How I opened up our conversation. "It was really cool being able to meet you." As in past tense. While in reality, right this second, we are currently meeting for the first time. Present tense. Happening now. Yet, I'm speaking as in the PAST TENSE for reasons unknown while we are PRESENTLY MEETING.

*facepalm*

David Sedaris, it was cool meeting you, thank you for drawing me a jack-o-lantern. I'm so sorry you had to meet me.
