Goodnight, Dr. Jackman
Furthering my addiction to BBC America, my new favorite show is Jekyll.

People. This show is SO GOOD. I know, I scoffed inwardly at it too. I mean, a remake of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? And following on the heels on the snooze-worthy Robin Hood I just didn't have a lot of hope for it. But, it stars Gina Bellman from Coupling and James Nesbitt, whose Irish-accented voice I could listen to all day. And then Stephanie was talking about Hex, which I never quite got into and mentioned that we should both watch Jekyll so we could talk about it. And then Thursday night I was bored, anxious, and lonely and looking for distraction and the first episode was On Demand, so why the hell not?

No lie, I think at one point I said out loud to Dill, the only living thing in the vicinity, "Holy shit."

Aside from being really well written and suspenseful, James Nesbitt rocks my world. He owns this role. His performance is just mind blowing — he is so creepy as Mr. Hyde, so convincing as tormented Dr. Jackman. There's a scene in the first episode where we see Mr. Hyde for the first time, and he's in this alleyway with a young girl making lewd comments, smile leery and wide, enjoying her panic and fright, "Let's play lions! No, don't run. Not while we're playing lions. Do you know what runs?" His voice drops low and he pulls her close taking time to eye her, "Food runs." And cue the shivers going down my spine.

I'm not doing that scene justice either. It's a damn good show, you guys. You should check it out.

I'd do Mr. Hyde. I'm just saying.

I would too. Except that he'd EAT ME when we were done. And not in the good way.

Eh, I can think of worse ways to go.

Holy crap. James and I watched episodes two and three last night, and we were totally fucking captivated. We very nearly watched episode four, but it was after midnight and we figured we'd save it, just in case we miss the series finale tonight and then find ourselves hankering for a Jekyll fix.

Eeeeee! It's just so. fragging. good.

I KNOW! IT IS SO DAMN GOOD. FYI, it's better to watch them On Demand since the network shaves about 3 or 4 minutes off when they air.

I may or may not have just bought the series on DVD.

That's the only way to describe it.

DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THE SEASON FINALE! I'm waiting for it to show up On Demand since I was busy with friends this Saturday. I'm so excited to see it though. I just know it's going to rule.

Dear James Nesbitt: You are an acting god. With a hot Irish accent. I heart you.

I shan't tell you anything! But do ask James what happened at a key moment. CREEPED US OUT.

I've just seen the finale.

OH MY FRIGGING GOD. I didn't see any of those twists coming (well, one of them I did) but the major ones I twigged onto maybe half of a second before they were revealed and then I would shout to Dill "THIS SHOW IS BRILLIANT!"

The show had some problems, and nitpicky holes, but who cares? I loved every minute of that ride. Hot damn.

Was it not totally riveting an thrilling and brilliant?

Be thankful your lights didn't decide to flicker. OR DID THEY? That would be an awesome gimmick, if the TV would surge and cause lights to flicker at a key moment.
