WAKE
In my family, we know how to say goodbye. We spend the morning sad, crying, wrecked. In the afternoon, we eat. In the evening, we drink.

The wake for Aunt Sis began today at 2:30pm. I am just getting home now, 12:30am. I blame Carl, who kept putting Molsons in my hand. I also blame Carl for the fact that I now weigh approximately 3,000 pounds. It wasn't enough that we had the lunch at Rut's where we all ate stuffed cabbage until we needed to loosen our belts a notch, no. Carl needed to go ahead and make ribs, seasoned wings, and cream of crab soup. And blinies. Jeezus.

So, here's to you, Aunt Sis. Nurse, care-giver, selfless aunt extrodinare.

And here's to the rest of your brothers and sisters, who you're now joining. May the party you're having in the afterlife be as awesome as the one we're having here remembering you all.
