The Truth
There are things in life that you think you've got a grasp on. Ideas and attitudes that you think are a part of you. Concepts that are so close to you, because you can feel them in your gut, or living somewhere in the back of your mind.

But then you're faced with a tough moment, one where you have nothing to rely on but yourself -- just you, standing alone, one lonely voice. And then you realize that you're lost. And that really, what you thought you knew, you've forgotten.

All that said: I really sucked last night at Karaoke when I tried to sing "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul. You would think I knew that song judging by the sheer number of times I danced around my room singing it in the 5th grade, but no. One glance away from the screen to look over at my friends and I was lost, my rhythm and mojo gone.

I was only singing it because they didn't have my signature song, Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a Place on Earth."

Really. How do you mess up a Paula Abdul song? Man, I fell off the shortest bus.

I think the real question here is, were you drunk when singing it? Cause Paula normally is, and if she can't do her own songs justice while sober, why should you have to???? ;-)

You did not suck. At least you didn't pull out old country songs. Seriously, what were those other people thinking? Gah!
