Something Non-Depresso
As you can imagine, it's been a rough couple of days over here. I'd rather not go into it, but as I'm sure you've gathered from my last entry, it's hard seeing someone you look up to, respect, and care about go through something so awful and totally unfair.

Anyway. I don't want to dwell on that today. Instead, I would like to tell you about my most recent celebrity sighting. It was an awesome moment in my life, one that I will look back on with delight and tell my grandchildren about. In fact, I debated writing about it here because I was afraid you all would be jealous. I'm pretty sure that I might loose some readership over here because people will be so envious of me and my celebrity moment that you will no longer want to read about my exploits.

Imagine, a mall. Imagine coming down the escalators after shopping for a super cute new skirt in Torrid and finding yourself face to face with someone you've admired for many years. Someone who shows bravery in the face of danger and prejudice in a world that benefits from their good deeds, but refuses to accept them. Imagine meeting THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.

Yes.

Yeah, I met Heroes in a Half Shell. Now who wants to touch me? Please note how Donatello (and it is Donatello, not Leonardo -- the flash makes his purple mask seem blue) is all up in my shit trying to hit on me by flexing his muscles.

At first I was nervous about meeting my childhood heroes. How does one react when met with the face of greatness? But then, Donatello gave me a high five and I felt right at ease. Now I feel as though we've known each other forever and should I ever be walking in a seedy part of town and get attacked by the Foot Clan, Turtles would have my back, yo. This was even better then that time when Pizza Hut had that promotion with TMNT and was giving away cassettes of their rock album "Coming Out of Their Shells" with their personal pan pizzas. I can remember Erin, Jason, and I begging our parents to go to Pizza Hut that night because if we didn't each get a copy of that totally awesome cassette with tracks such as "Pizza Power," "Walk Straight," and "Cowabunga, Cowabunga," then we would simply DIE.

On another note, I would be the happiest girl in the world if someone could find me mp3s of those songs. Because, seriously. They're horrible. So horrible they loop around in a circle and become AWESOME again. I could sneak them onto my iPod and listen to them when I'm bored with layout or at the gym, because I have a feeling they would be fun to work out to. All except that April song, which sucked, and as a matter of fact, April in general sucked. Shut up April, grow a spine and start wearing something besides a yellow jumpsuit.

Anyway, after meeting the TMNT, quite a little debate was sparked within my group about who the best turtle is. Obviously, I weighed in long enough to point out that Donatello was obviously the best -- He's the sciencey one who made and maintains all the turtle's gadgets, plus he's funny and is bitching on the Bo staff. Mike countered with the fact the Leonardo has the best weapon. Haven debated that while he might have the coolest weapon, Leonardo is a whiny tight ass. And so it went, with the argument going on for, no lie, fifteen minutes.

I personally checked out after making my statement about Donatello, because frankly, nothing is going to change my mind. But I'm curious. Who is YOUR favorite turtle and why?

ETA: OH...MY...GOD. Thank you, Google.

I have no fave turtle, as I'm afraid I'm too old to be in their target demo.
But I had to log in to say this: I am not jealous, because I have met BOTH CarrotTop AND Jackie Mason, and really, once you've done that, your life is complete.
