ETA 2:00pm -- Wow. The critics are ripping him to shreds, which really surprises me. I thought he was light years better than Crystal, Goldberg or Martin, whose jokes are so forced and hokey. Stewart was a natrual, I thought, making it look easy. Granted, most of the critics are coming from places like the Washington Post. Shut up, Tom Shales. Ebert and Roper gave him two thumbs up, though, and I am really inclined to agree.
Also: Love you, Nick and Steve. You guys are too cute
And I'm finally starting to see what The Big Deal is about George Clooney. Man knows how to rock a tux, for sure. And his acceptence speech was great.
I was really annoyed about ABC cutting people's speeches though, especially in the instinces where it was more than one person receiving the award. One person would talk and then the second person would lean into the mic to thank their mom or whatever and the music would swell and mic would be turned off silencing them in their Moment. Piss off, ABC. It's the Academy Awards. Half of these people are never going to get this chance again. It's supposed to be long and people are allowed to get more than 45 seconds to say thanks to their babby's daddy or whatever.
I am seriously such a dork when it comes to the Oscars. I can't figure out why I have such a hard on for them when any other day of the year I couldn't give two shits.
